Answer

The Cable has a Female DB9 connector at one end and a Mac Mini Din8 at the other end. The cable is configured as follows:

If CTS & RTS are not available on the Mac side then you should jumper them on the DB9 side (i.e. jumper pins 7 & 8 in the DB9) This will work but may result in less reliable communications.
